SOAR - Rising Above

I worked with a team of six students to create the main design theme for the portfolio show, where students of Visual Communications and Interior Design would display their final semester projects for guests, friends and family all to see. At the time I joined, the group already had their logo and fonts selected, but the main visual direction was not completely developed yet. The concept for the show was “rising above the ashes of COVID-19,” which inspired my conception of the historical-route of showcasing historical figures that have “risen above the odds.” From there, our group refined the idea and I re-shifted my focus from broader people to designers of the past that have influenced us now into the designers that we are. I was responsible for creating the main background design, which was later used by my group members for postcard invitations and nametags. I also created the poster + retractable banner, handled printing, cutting, and displaying the materials, and designed the judges and presenter video loop background, along with Zoom backgrounds for the first year students.

I used Photoshop and Illustrator for designing this project. I also printed printed, hand-cut, and hung up the posters all over campus.
